Master the skills of hand letter writing with the Martha Stewart Crafts ® Learn with Martha: Hand Lettering Kit. This easy to use kit comes with everything you need to perfect your designs, and create beautiful handmade letters for any occasion.
The simple tutorial below will show how I created my first hand lettering note, and how easy it is to use the templates and techniques in this kit. From there, you can purchase additional writing pens, practice sheets, and tracing papers to try, and even be inspired to try hand lettering on larger crafts and mediums.
Martha Stewart Hand Lettering Kit
Creating beautifully hand-written letters is a talent, a talent I do not possess, but thanks to the new Martha Stewart Hand Lettering Kit I created the beautiful letter below with ease!
The Martha Stewart Crafts ® Learn with Martha: Hand Lettering Kit includes a variety of pens, cards, stencils, tracing paper, practice paper, and step-by-step instructions. After practicing as suggested using the tracing paper and practice paper, I created my first card.
Tip: Pencil a baseline on your project, and align the template's printed baseline with it to keep lettering straight.
Make sure your word or phase will fit on the card. If using individual alphabet letters, center your phrase by starting from the center of the word and work your way out.
Using a pencil, trace the shape outline through the stencil. Remove the stencil from your sheet and fill in the gaps between the lines to form a complete letter.
Using the 0.5 mm fine-tip pen included in the kit, trace your letters. Once the ink has dried, erase visible pencil marks.
Using the shading guideline in the kit instructions, thicken the letters using the fine-tip pen or the bullet-tip pen.
Once you are comfortable with the art of hand lettering, you can add stencils to create a more ornamental project.
Choose the flourish or border of your choice. Place the stencil over your already completed hand lettering craft.
Fill the gaps as needed to complete the shape.
Don't forget to create a personalized hand lettering envelope to complete your hand lettering kit.
